For each student to participate, we need 2 items by Dec 16, 2016.

2. Sign and send to school the Permission slip marked PTA Caboose Camp. Click here to download and print.
This permission slip will replace the need to send a written note to school to have your student stay after school on Caboose Camp days.

After School Soccer 
FC Richmond (grades 3-5) 
Designed to give students in grades 3-5 training to improve foundational soccer skills and habits. A great introduction to the game of soccer where players of varying levels will achieve success.  Professionally licensed coaches will administer the training and teach proper techniques.Players will learn moves to beat a defender. 


Dance Theater with the Story Lady
Ali Pfautz, The Story Lady (grades K-3)
Join Ali Pfautz, The Story Lady, for some fast paced, imaginative fun. Drama games and dance steps come together in this high-energy class that explores theatrical expression. The Story Lady mixes creative movement, dance combinations, and theater activities to provide a well-rounded introduction to performing. In the final week of Caboose Camp, parents will be invited to a special performance during the last 15 minutes of class. 


Sports Spectacular
Overtime Athletics 
(grade K-2 & 3-5) 
Let’s Play! Save the best for last by finishing up the school day with Sports Spectacular, a variety athletic program that features different sports throughout the session. Participants will practice skills and play games in both traditional sports and playground favorites. The Sports Spectacular Variety Program features the best “to-do” list ever – Basketball, Soccer, Flag Football, Kickball, Capture the Flag, Wiffle Ball, Bump and Bite, Knights and Dragons, Numbers Game, Tag Games, Safe Base and MORE! OTA covers all the bases with our emphasis on playing, teamwork, sportsmanship, and fitness. Don’t miss out on the FUN!  Every child gets an OTA H.I.G.H. F.I.V.E.S. Participation Medal!!  


9-FUN-FUN! 
Jamie Graf (grades 2-5) 
Ever wonder what it is like to be an everyday hero?  What is it like to be a nurse, paramedic or police officer? Would you know what to do if you had to call 911?  What if someone broke their ankle and you are the only one there? Spend an exciting 6 weeks learning about first aid you can use, learn about various body systems, and meet extraordinary people that work daily to protect you and your family. Opportunities to learn from a forensic specialist, SWAT Medics, flight nurses, police officers, pilots, and more!  Hands on learning with a lot of fun!


Mini Taekwon's Class 
Taekwon Cho's Family Martial Arts (grades K-5)
Taekwon Cho's Mini Taekwondo Class is designed to develop the character traits needed to be successful at school and productive at home. The children are very responsive to our program because they see a “real” Korean Master teaching about proper behavior, respect and confidence while bringing out focus skills in school and at home.


Rock Climbing
Peak Experiences (grades 4-5) 
The premise of the program is to introduce kids to the sport of climbing. All gear is included as are the belayers. Each week they will learn a new technique or tactic to apply to their climbing. At the end of the program, they will receive a pass to come and try out our youth programs so that they can continue climbing.


Tree Climbing
Riverside Climbing (grades K-2 & 3-5)
Come out and play with trees! Relish your human abilities and dance with endorphins. The way we see it, active kids are happier kids. In Riverside Outfitters’ Tree Climbing Program your children will challenge themselves and each other, both physically and mentally. With activities ranging from high-elevation zip lines and vertical climbs into tree canopies, to low-ropes challenges and team games, your children will join our recreation professionals in some “man-it’s-good-to-be-a-kid” type fun.


Fun with Fishing
Virginia Outside (grades 1-5)
Participants will learn conventional casting from the basics to more advanced techniques while using our Backyard Bass Game where kids catch plastic casting targets shaped like fish.They are designed to make learning to cast fun and easy. They will learn to tie knots necessary for most fresh and saltwater applications and become familiar with different fishing tactics and lures as well as the species they are likely to catch in Virginia. They will also learn to make their own lures. Kids will come home with a list of local places to fish and what to use so they will be ready to get out there in the spring. 


Mountain Biking Skills
Virginia Outside (grades 1-5) 
Participants will learn the correct, in balance and in control way to ride a bike. Campers will be introduced to basic riding techniques on the Robious campus.  Skills will include; pedaling (accelerating), stopping (breaking), cornering (turning), and changing gears (shifting).  These skills will be taught while each camper learns to optimize their sense of balance.  After the basic safety measures and skills are introduced, the campers will participate in many fun activities and games while riding their bikes!  Riding your bike is a great way to stay in shape and explore the outdoor world.  We hope you will be able to join us after school for some fun riding bikes! 



Rock City
Bach to Rock (grades K-2)
Through fun musical and movement-based activities, exposure to live instruments and musically inspired story-time, budding young musicians develop the skills needed to read music, play simple rhythms and develop fine motor control - skills that are essential for future success in playing an instrument. 



Glee Club
Bach to Rock (grades 3-5) 
This choral ensemble offers a dynamic atmosphere for male and female students to unlock their inner star! Students will explore fun vocal exercises, be singing in harmony, and cool choreography while performing arrangements of popular songs. The B2R Glee Club provides a group learning experience that emphasizes reading music, intonation, listening skills, rhythm, and healthy vocal technique. No experience necessary.


Cartoon Fun for Kindergarten and 1st Graders
Young Rembrandts (grades K-1)
If you love to laugh, giggle and create funny pictures then this program is the one for you! Learning to create original cartoon characters and unique backgrounds and scenes is just plain FUN! Combine that with adding crazy expressions, bizarre movements, and wacky colors will make your cartoons even more exciting. From animals to objects to humans and more you will have plenty of time to let your creative juices flow! 


Surf, Sand & Sea Drawing—Creating in Pastels 
Young Rembrandts  (grades 2-5)
Calling all beach lovers, this brand new pastel adventure is a blast.  During this fun program, you will learn to create sea stars, clown fish, sea turtles, the Chesapeake blue crab and an awesome scene of jellyfish!  Each week you will create a large, poster-size drawing that will be sure to amaze.  Artists will learn skills and techniques to blend, layer, texture, shade and so much more.  If your family owns a beach cottage or weekend getaway then this is the workshop for you; creating beautiful works of art perfect for framing!  These classes will be messy, fun, and full of excitement…please bring an old shirt or smock to class each week. 


Game Design 
TechEm Studios (grades 3-5)
Come build the game you’ve always wanted to play! Students will learn design thinking, character creation, animation, and gaming principles. Introductory logic skills necessary for computer programming are developed as they code their own custom computer game that they can share with their friends. 


Challenge Island’s Time Machine Island
Challenge Island (grades K-5)
This session’s challenges will take place on the action-packed Time Machine Island! You and your tribe will build a time machine to take you to historical destinations like Gold Rush Mountain, Pyramid Peak, and Pinball Wizard Way. Magic
Jonathan the Juggler (grades K-5) 
Jonathan Austin will be teaching amazing and entertaining magic tricks with rubber bands, cards, coins, dollar bills and lots more. You will also learn the basics of juggling and there will be a show on the last day in which you can delight your friends and family with what you have learned. Everything will be provided by the teacher so all you have to do is show and be ready to learn. 


Foods Around the World
Edible Education (grades K-2) 
Spend a week traveling the world through fantastic adventures. From English tea scones to Aussie chocolate cakes, creating delicious foods from abroad is a great way to learn about cool and unusual foods. 


Ticket to Ride with LEGO® Bricks
Bricks 4 Kidz (grades K-2 & 3-5) 
Delve into the history and mechanics of favorite amusement park rides in this imaginative unit. Students will construct a Carousel Swing, Tilt a Whirl, Loop de Loop ride, Swing boat ride, and Merry Go Round all with axles, pulleys, motors and lots of other LEGO® technic bricks. Lessons incorporate principles of physics, described in a way children can understand, such as G-Force inertia and momentum, as well as math concepts. These engaging lessons will give students an understanding of the physical forces they experience every day. 


Hip Hop with Mr. Peace (grades K-5) 
Love to dance? Want to learn how to dance like Usher or Justin Timberlake? Join Mr. Peace as we learn to dance to your favorite songs off the radio.


Kid’s Chocolate Making 
The Williamsburg Chocolatier, Inc. (grades 2-5) 
This class will introduce the young chocolate maker to a variety of techniques each week using chocolate. We will use candy molds with edible chocolate paints, pretzels,oreos,marshmallows and other treats. We combine chocolate making along with the history of chocolate and games to make it fun each week. Please note any food allergies with registration. Aprons/old shirts recommended and girls MUST tie back long hair.  


Intro to Coding
TechEm Studios (grades K-3)
Play games to learn how games are made! Using visual coding apps, we will guide students through the basics of programming as they learn about coding and the languages we use to make computers do what we want.



Drama Kids 
(grades K5)
Join Drama Kids for our dramatic 6-week acting and improvisation workshop where students will participate in a wide range of new dramatic activities that include: mini-scripts, characterizations, scene starters, small plays, speech and movement techniques and improvisation skills. Above all, we NEVER repeat a lesson or play, our drama classes are fast paced, great fun, and have new activities and lessons each week. The session concludes with a wonderful mini-performance with costumes in class for family and friends.

Conduct Expectations
Rules of conduct that apply during the regular school day also apply during Caboose Camp classes.

The environment during classes will be one that promotes listening, learning and having fun in a controlled manner. When every participant demonstrates a respectful and considerate demeanor toward their fellow students and their teachers, everyone will benefit and all will be able to enjoy the class.

If a student is not able to conduct themselves by these standards, he or she will be sent home with a behavior sheet that must be signed and returned before the child attends the next class. If a child receives a second warning sheet, the student will not be allowed to attend the remainder of the session. 

Children are responsible for dressing appropriately for outdoor activities. If it is below freezing, outdoor classes will be brought inside.  If a child does not have weather-appropriate outdoor clothing, they will have to sit out for the day’s activities. There are no refunds for misconduct.
