RES Teacher Appreciation Week
April 28 - May 5

We wish all of our Robious Elementary School staff a Wonderful Appreciation Week!

We began our Teacher Appreciation Luncheon during the teachers' Professional Development time on Friday, April 28th. The teachers enjoyed a wonderful luncheon catered by Chicken Fiesta down on Midlothian Turnpike, and retiring staff were recognized.

This week, our staff are enjoying goodies each day:
 - Monday, we have received a very generous donation from Sugar Shack Donuts, treating our teachers to donuts and coffee.
 - Tuesday, Room Parents will deliver a bouquet to each teacher from the class, and students are encouraged to bring notes of appreciation to their teachers.
 - On Wednesday, our staff will be celebrated with surprises throughout the day
 - On Thursday, the Cheezilla Food Truck will be at the school to provide all staff with lunch.
 - On Friday, a Chick Fil'A Breakfast will be provided for our staff to finish out the week.

Thanks go out to all of our amazing volunteers and donors who are making this week possible. Our staff feel truly blessed.

Earth Week
April 17-21

Happy Earth Week!!

We will be celebrating Earth Week by kicking off our new Recycling Campaign!!  Our new Green Team Coordinators, Meredith Henne Baker and Merenda Woodward, have put together a fun filled week for us!

Robious Elementary is celebrating all week (and beyond) with a fun recycling drive! You may bring the following items to RES beginning on Monday, April 17th through the end of the year. When these items are tossed out or burned, they can release dangerous chemicals into the environment. We will be sure they are recycled and kept out of landfills.

  • Batteries (container in front office)
  • Clothing ("Clothing to Cash" bin in parking lot)
  • Plastic Bags (container in front office)
  • Paper (bins in classrooms)

We are also teaming up with the cafeteria staff to reduce food waste. (Over 40% of food produced and transported in America is thrown away, and much of it is still good to eat.) Here are the Robious lunch team's top three tips to keep food out of landfills:

1. Don't put food on your plate or in your lunch bag that you will not eat.

2. Take time to finish your meal at lunch--not just talk with friends.

3. Take home any uneaten lunch to have for a snack later.

The PTA looks forward to partnering with Robious families to cut back on waste and encourage recycling all year 'round!

Lots of people have RSVP'ed that they are attending the Raising the Rails Auction on March 25th. YAY! But don't forget to Buy Your Tickets!! You can find all the information you need to purchase tickets, peruse items available on both silent and live auction, and even find an itinerary for the night on the 501 auction website at

We still need volunteers during the event to help make the night run smoothly. If you plan to attend and would like to help out for an our or so, see how you might be able to help out HERE

Find out more about our Engineer's Club and Conductor's Club Sponsors on the Auction Page Here.

As more and more families move into our community, I know that we all want Robious Elementary school to reflect our values. What is important to you? What do you think is important for your student to have access to? I, for one, would not have enjoyed school as much if it weren't for the scholastic enrichment opportunities (such as our new STEAM Club) that were provided at my elementary school. If there are any programs, not just this one that our community wants Robious to establish, two things are required: the volunteers with a vision to coordinate such efforts, and successful fundraising. On that note...

Get involved by chairing one of our existing committees or start one of your own! We are still looking for a President Elect, and several committee chairmen such as STEAM club, Directory, and Membership. Nomination Yourself or a friend. Forms can be found HERE.

Reading Makes Cent$

Speaking of the auction, we are still in need of items to fill our grade level baskets. Also, find out what's going on elsewhere in the organization. Please take a look at the Minutes from our last meeting and our preliminary agenda for this month HERE. There is at least one error in the Minutes, and whoever finds and reports at the meeting will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card to H&M!! Our last meeting was a whopping 55 minutes, and I'm hoping that this one runs just as quick.
