About RES PTA‎ > ‎

Membership

The Robious Elementary School PTA goals are aligned with the overall PTA Mission (see below).  We strive to work together to provide programs and services that will benefit our students, staff and their families as well as our greater community.

Everyone – parents, educators, students and other citizens active in Robious Elementary School and its community – is invited to join the RES PTA.  Either join ONLINE, or complete your PTA Membership Form today!

Please note that your PTA Membership dues also covers our membership dues into both the Virginia State and National PTA.  If you have any questions, please Contact Us.

Also, New this year - the National PTA has decided to no longer print Membership cards.  Although VAPTA has provided a template should we want to print on our own, we believe it is more cost effective for us to simply email you a confirmation upon receipt.  Please be sure to include your email address on your PTA Membership form upon submission.  Thank you!

The PTA is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in America. Today’s PTA is comprised of over 4 million parents, teachers, grandparents, caregivers, foster parents and other caring adults who share a commitment to improving the education, health and safety of all children. We speak with one voice for every child.
Today, the issues that affect our children extend beyond their individual schools. The PTA’s nationwide network provides parents with the forum and tools to collectively influence the decisions that affect children not only at their schools, but also throughout their districts, within their states, and across the nation. This mission is unique to the PTA.  Many of the benefits our children receive today, such as universal kindergarten, the National School Lunch Program, and a juvenile justice system, were accomplished as a result of the PTA mission

The overall purpose of PTA is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

PTA Values

Collaboration: We work in partnership with a wide array of individuals and organizations to accomplish our agreed-upon goals.

Commitment: We are dedicated to promoting children’s health, well-being, and educational success through strong parent, family, and community involvement.

Accountability: We acknowledge our obligations. We deliver on our promises.

Respect: We value our colleagues and ourselves. We expect the same high quality of effort and thought from ourselves as we do from others.

Inclusivity: We invite the stranger and welcome the newcomer. We value and seek input from as wide a spectrum of viewpoints and experiences as possible.

Integrity: We act consistently with our beliefs. When we err, we acknowledge the mistake and seek to make amends.

Why Join the PTA?

What is PTA? Why join PTA? The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. But there are many more PTA advantages:
  • Get Connected. There’s no better way to know what’s happening in your school.

  • Discover Great Resources. The PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.

  • Tap into a Network. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.

  • Watch Yourself Grow. By volunteering with your PTA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause—your child and all children in the community.

  • Speak Up. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.

  • Witness Improvement. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role by supporting building improvements through advocacy and play an important role in fundraising for curriculum based programs and social events.

  • Be a Role ModelBy becoming a PTA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.

  • Enjoy Substantial Benefits. Individuals and local units can take advantage of a host of benefits from PTA membership including discounts and offers from member benefits providers and sponsors, magazine subscriptions, leadership training, e-newsletters and much more.
